Interiors
The public floors of a city hotel — a lobby and café lit by rings of suspended light, and a rooftop terrace laid out around a water wall.
The challenge
With no open ground on a dense city site, the hotel’s arrival floor had to work as reception, lounge and restaurant at once, and the garden had to go upstairs.
The approach
A curved dropped ceiling hung with illuminated rings sets the café apart from reception without a wall, while marble-clad piers with brass reveals, a timber slat screen and a chequered stone floor tie the two together. On the roof, timber spouts pour into a channel and turf, planting beds and a pergola make an open-air dining room.
Scope of work
Interior design of the lobby, café and rooftop terrace of a city hotel. The Raintree Hotel, TO CONFIRM.
