A garment factory for Hamza Fashions — two production wings either side of a central spine, with the whole roof given over to solar arrays and planted courts.
The challenge
A factory of this depth risks becoming a sealed box: stacked production floors, truck docks and a workforce block on one plot, with the roof the only ground to give back.
The approach
Two production wings are split by a service spine so daylight reaches both from the long elevations, and trucks pull into docks cut under the building rather than queue in the yard. Above, solar arrays cover both wings, and between them a slatted concrete canopy on corten-red columns shades a paved terrace of raised planters and bamboo.
