Architecture
An effluent treatment plant for Esquire, stacked vertically with storage floors above — its working tanks and machinery wrapped in a planted concrete frame rather than hidden behind a wall.
The challenge
Effluent treatment is usually a fenced yard of open tanks; here inlet, aeration, sludge and discharge all had to sit inside one building, with store floors stacked over it.
The approach
The ground floor takes the waste-water inlet on one side and the treated-water and sludge discharges on the other, with cargo lifts and a loading bay serving the store floors above. Deep concrete fins and timber-toned louvres screen every bay, planting boxes run the full height of the elevation, and solar arrays cover both roof slopes.
Scope of work
Architecture and facade design for a multi-storey effluent treatment plant and store building. Esquire ETP, TO CONFIRM.
