Dressman Apparel’s factory occupies a triangular plot already largely taken up by an existing building — a slim, linear block pushed to the boundary to win back floor area.
The challenge
A linear factory floor plate had to fit a triangular site where the existing building took most of the land, and the floors still needed daylight and air on every side.
The approach
Fins on the east and west faces let diffused light through, while louvred windows on the north and south draw cross ventilation; the staircase wall is louvred for the same reason. The composite frame wraps its columns in brick for fire protection, and balconies at the corners of the top two floors give staff somewhere to gather.
