Architecture
A production and store building for Square Fashions in Bhaluka, Mymensingh — its plan pulled from an irregular site, with the structural frame carried on above the roofline.
The challenge
The site’s irregular shape set the footprint, and a factory of 28,000 square metres had to be built quickly and cheaply while staying workable in Bangladesh’s heat.
The approach
A modular grid absorbs the awkward geometry and shortens the build, and the frame is left exposed where it rises past the roof so the mass reads as one piece. The long north and south elevations carry the openings for daylight and cross-ventilation, while services line the east and west ends behind near-solid walls that block the heat.
Scope of work
Architecture for a 28,000 square metre production and store building. Square Fashions Limited, TO CONFIRM.
