A corporate head office fitted out over several floors of an existing tower — the structure’s bare cement-rendered columns left exposed and set against dark timber panelling.
The challenge
The existing tower’s floor plate puts columns in the middle of rooms and gives little height above the slab for the services an open-plan office needs.
The approach
Rather than boxing the columns in, the fit-out leaves their raw cement render bare and lets them stand against wall-to-wall walnut-toned panelling and pale tile. Recessed plaster ceiling bands carry cove lighting and the air grilles where the slab allows, and the perimeter is kept clear so full-height glazing reaches the desks.
