A design proposal for BLF Hospital’s ground floor — reception, waiting and nurse stations rebuilt around the Lions blue and yellow, set against pale stone and light oak.
The challenge
An existing hospital floor with a low suspended ceiling and long counters had to take large numbers of waiting patients while keeping reception, wards and nurse stations clearly apart.
The approach
The reception runs as one long stone-topped counter on oak, with the Lions roundel fixed to the boxed columns that break it into positions. Waiting is split between fixed steel-framed seat rows and loose yellow and blue sofas, and each nurse station is marked by a hexagonal oak ceiling raft with a lit perimeter.
