An academic building for DRMC — classrooms, laboratories and exam halls stacked above an open ground-floor plaza, with courtyards cut through the block at every level.
The challenge
Fitting a full secondary-school programme onto a single urban block means a deep, long plan that could easily become a corridor of sealed classrooms with no air or daylight.
The approach
Classroom wings sit along the two long edges and are separated by open-sided courts and semi-open decks, so each teaching room draws light and cross-ventilation from both sides. Vertical louvres and planted terraces shade the facade, while the ground floor is given over to a paved plaza, canteen and reception set behind a colonnade.
