A business hotel near the airport, delivered against the clock — a minimal, functional interior carved into an existing commercial building to bring a modern hotel to market fast, without losing comfort or view.
Even in 2006, when Dhaka was a booming economy, the city lacked proper business hotels near the airport for its rapidly growing number of foreign and local business travellers. Our client seized the opportunity and chose to set up a hotel inside an existing commercial building — which raised the challenge, because they wanted to go into operation within a very short period. So we raced against time, folding in every functionality of a modern business hotel with minimum customisation while holding the overall design scheme. We opted for a minimal yet functional language: beams and internal patterns were adjusted to shift the space into the character of a hotel, and fenestration was redesigned to match the surrounding view. The interior is kept simple, soothing and minimal, and each floor is planned to enhance the efficiency of service flow — so guests enjoy a splendid view of the airport alongside the comfort and ease of a business hotel. The outcome pleased guests and expedited the whole go-to-market phase.
