Architecture
GAMCA’s medical screening centre occupies a narrow wedge-shaped corner plot — deep board-marked concrete fins and perforated brass screens wrapped around a full-height glazed entrance hall.
The challenge
A screening centre must move large numbers of applicants through in a day, so the ground floor is entirely waiting hall, and the glazed front had to be shaded without going blind.
The approach
Deep concrete fins stand proud of the facade and turn to meet the plot’s angled boundary, with perforated brass panels filling the gaps between them so daylight is filtered rather than blocked. A flat roof canopy runs clear of the walls to shade a planted upper terrace, and the seating banks below sit under one uninterrupted structural grid.
Scope of work
Architecture for a medical screening centre on a wedge-shaped urban plot. Medical Centre for GAMCA, TO CONFIRM.
