RAINTREE
Contrast of multiple design themes can still come in harmony, if done right. The Raintree, a boutique hotel in Banani, carries the proof of it. We were the second company to design this project. Our client had liked the glossy retro theme of the bedrooms and we kept them as is. Our challenge was to solve the rest of the hotel, creating harmony between the previous design and ours. Even in 2006 when Dhaka was a booming economy, it lacked proper business hotels especially near the airport to cater to the rapidly growing number of foreign and local businessmen. Our client seized the opportunity and decided to set up a hotel in an existing commercial building. It raised the level of challenge even higher. Within a very short period of time, they wanted to go into operation. So we had to race against time and include all possible functionalities with minimum customization yet keeping the overall objective and design scheme in mind. The outcome was not only appreciated by the guests but also expedited the whole go to market phase. We opted for a minimal yet functional design scheme, seamlessly integrating all the functional component of a modern business hotel. The use of beams and the internal patterns were adjusted to transit the space into the character of a hotel. Fenestration was redesigned to match with the surrounding view. Interior is kept simple, soothing and minimal. Each floor was designed to enhance functional efficiency of service flow. Therefore, guests could enjoy the splendid view of the airport along with the comfort and ease of a business hotel. The neat and welcoming environment is also reflected in the entry lobby, elevator, and all the way up to the hotel.
